What's the ICF?

The Financial Conditions Index EconViews (FCI ) aims to summarize the state of financial conditions in Argentina's economy , in order to have an indicator which is easy to understand and which identifies how financial conditions affect levels of economic and financial activity.

Even though it is not intended to be a leading indicator of activity or reproduce the behavior of any economic or financial variable, the FCI adequately captures how financial conditions impact on levels of financial and economic activity.

The FCI is different from other well known and commonly used indices , since, for example, it does not pretend to evaluate the state of monetary policy , although considered as a relevant variable, it does not constitute a measure of so-called "country risk " nor an indicator of the status of " credit conditions " that evaluates the willingness of banks to extend credit .
