The strategic association agreement between the Mercosur and the European Union is much more than a trade agreement. Amongst the positive aspects, it should drive the creation of trade, the specialization to a higher scale of certain sectors and a greater integration of local firms to global value chains. The access to cheaper inputs is another important benefit and would be immediate. This favors exports.
