During the weekend the first delegation of Argentine officials left to negotiate with the IMF a program that should lead to an extended fund facility agreement. So far, we have had a collection of “constructive” meetings here, there and on neutral ground. But in those meetings between Martín Guzmán, Alberto Fernández and Kristalina Georgieva and her team, nothing was discussed except the outline of what a program with the IMF could be. The market reacted favorably because it understood that the match had started. All of the above was a compendium of reflections, verbiage and dialectic, similar to the previous ones for soccer matches where the commentators have to wait until the action arrives.
