The first sovereign debt ranking in history was made almost 100 years ago. In march 1918, the 1920 sovereign bond of Argentina was ranked with an A by Standard & Poor’s. After the Great Depression of the 30s, Argentina was never again ranked as Investment Grade (IG.) Recovering that status will be neither easy nor immediate.
